Big Rivers Red Cross Ride for the Red

Today I rode in this fun ride through scenic Daviess and McLean Counties on a 40 mile course of beautiful farmland and rolling hills. The ride kicked-off about 7:45am, before it got too hot. Today hit a high of 93 degrees. However, I was done with the 40 mile route by 10:20am. They had SAG stoops every 10 miles or so and burgers and beverages at the end of the ride, too. A very nice Saturday morning ride.

LAKEWOOD VALLEY TRIATHLON

Saturday, I finished the Lakewood Valley Triathlon, in the Owensboro area, in about 2 hours and 25 mintues. Hosted by the Owensboro Family YMCA, it attracted 160 competitors. It was a sprint triathlon where I swam a half-mile in a lake, then biked 15 miles and finished with a 3-mile run. The bike portion of the event was hilly and the run was through woods and around the lake. It was grueling, but at the end of it I was ready for the next one, which may be Racine, and then the Chicago Accenture.

Owensboro YMCA Lakewood Valley Triathlon

Did a little tune-up run yesterday - about 2 miles. Today, I did a tune-up ride for the triathlon this weekend - about 4.1 miles. The bike is tuned-up by the local bike shop - Quality Bikes. I'm as ready as I'll be. Hopefully, I can finish in under 2 hours.
