Happy Thanksgiving!

Went out this afternoon with a couple of friends after they ate an early Thanksgiving meal. We rode over to Panther Creek Park and did the loop twice and I rode home. It was about 55 degrees and a very nice day to ride. I had a delicious turkey dinner, with mashed potatos, rolls, and a nice Riesling when I got home. There is much to be thankful for, including good weather, generous friends, loving family, a healthy and active life and much, much more.

The Change We Need!

Well, last week was election week, finally! Although Kentucky bucked the trend and remained fairly red, the rest of the country voted for change and we have had yet another bloodless revolution in our country. I hope the rest of the world is watching, not just the campaigns, but how we come together after a long battle of ideas and become one country, again, without fear or repression or torture.

The weather was very nice for November and with the time change, the sun comes up early enough to wake me up, so I could commute a couple days this week. On Monday and Tuesday I commuted to work on the bike and Saturday, I rode to a meeting at Brescia U. It turned colder and more gray Sunday and there may be rain this week. I may not get to ride again until Friday or the weekend.

Last week's Mileage: 8.5 miles
2008 YTD Mileage: 674.5 miles
Miles to reach 2008 goal of 750 miles: 75.5
Avg Price of Gas in the 'boro: $2.01 (Still falling!!!)

Saturday on the Bike

Is it really November? This weekend was beautiful with temperatures in the 70's and blue skies. I'm sure the cold weather and maybe some snow is on the way, eventually. But it is nice to enjoy a few more days like this while we can.

Saturday afternoon, I went out for a ride and passed a few others who had the same idea. My neighbors with the tandem were out riding on Sutherland, too. I passed them on my way South and they were heading back into town. I hadn't ridden Sutherland to Hwy 231 since Greg and I did it earlier this summer. I had been meaning to do this route again, sooner but there are so many good rides around here, that it's taken me a while to finally do it. The wind was in my face going south and it might have even been out of the southeast, but I did get some help from the wind on the way back. It was a nice long ride and it felt good to stretch the legs a bit, again with a few hills that didn't seem as big as the last time I rode them. Maybe I'll be a hill climber, eventually!

Today's Mileage: 24.24 miles
2008 YTD Mileage: 666.0 miles (uh, oh, 666, I better get some more miles in quick!)
Miles to reach 2008 goal of 750 miles: 84.0
Avg Price of Gas in the 'boro: $2.25 (still falling, I bet prices start going up after the election)
